I have an Asus A7V600 and PC Radeon 9600 Pro 256MB. In the BIOS the "Graphics Aperture Size" is set to 64MB... should I increase this? To how much, 256MB? Will it provide a performance boost?

Thanks!

I read somewhere that the proper setting for Graphics Aperture size was half of your system memory size. Unfortunately I don't have any documentation to back this up. Also, if you have 1G+ of system memory you can't set it high enough to equal half.

titimbob, I heard that too. I havent noticed any performance boost between my original 64 and the present 128 though with my mx440, you dont see much improvement whatever you do :p

That's a cheesy inacurrate way to determine it.

Best way to determine, is to bennchmark your system under your intended settings.

And you would never want to set it at half of 1gb or above with AGP.

This may change latter, but not now.

We've revisited this many times before, here's the last time;

64mb is prolly about right. The more ram ur vid card has, the smaller the AGP aperature. here's an article explaining it http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=8&var1=0&var2=32
