GRAPHICS CARD - 3rd gen Processor

In my rig i have - i7 3770k 3.5ghz, 16gb ram
and have an old GTX 770 4gb card.

I want to make the most out of my Acer GN246HL 1080p 144hz monitor.

is a 1080ti too overkill for this processor or should I get a cheaper card?

way too overkill a 1070 would be a sweet spot for you.

It would be a huge waste of money to game at 1080p 144hz with a GTX 1080 ti... Get a GTX 1070. Only think about using a 1080 ti for 4k or 1440p gaming.
