Hi guys,

Im currently in a position where I will be building a new Rig in a few Months, around June/July/August

What im wondering is it worth sinking a good $1500 Aus (or more) on a 4k setup. ( only monitor and GPU )
Atm Most cards ive seen struggle to run 4k gaming above 30 FPS and after a $1000 card ( im thinking r9-295x2 ) and a new monitor ( I think will cost around $500) Is it worth it?

The new Flagship r9-390 card is rumored to be coming out , but im wondering if it will be out around the time im building, and I wonder how it will go at 4k gaming and if and when/if they will release r9-395x2 . This doesn't even take into consideration NVidias Answer to the 390 but who knows when that will be

SO my questions are
1: should I buy a mid range card and stick it out another year maxing Game settings around 1080P gaming
2. Buy something like a NVIDIA 980 or r9-295x2 and game around 2k (or higher) maxed out.
3. Spend all that cash on a 295 and new monitor
4.Wait until Duel r9-390s or nvidia equivalent to 4k game in.

So many things to consider, will 4k Monitors come down in price after June?, will there be a Graphics card that can Game at 4k and be relevant in 4k for atleast a year.
Should I buy r9-295 or wait for new games:S

Also Kudos if anyone can Recomend some good 4k gaming monitors, I was thinking 27-28 inch

I would wait, 4k gaming is just becoming more affordable. However the price still isn't worth it. The screens have come down in price, here in AUS the average price is around 600 dollars from the 1000 it used to be.

However the hardware you'll need to MAX games on it is expensive. The r9 295X2 can Max games like BF4 on 4k, but for a year or more. I actually don't think it'll keep up. The Titan X also Maxes BF4 at 4k however both these cards are 1000+ dollars.
To max it out for another year I'm pretty sure 2 Titan X's will do it but for 3200 dollars? ;) no thanks.

So I would actually wait for 4k to be more of a thing, when the 300 series releases (possibly Q3 of this year HOPEFULLY) hopefully by then being able to max games at 4k will be cheaper and easier. IMO stick it out.

-good luck

Thanks for the Answer.

I think I have decided Ill build A PC as If I'm going to Put a high end card in it , and just chuck a Mid range GPU to get me through a year, and then Jump the Gun hopefully when the 395X2 comes out, or an Nvidia equivalent.

So one more question, Can anyone recommend a nice Sleek Looking Micro Atx Case that would Fit a 295x2?
Im assuming the 395x2 wont be bigger ( hopefully its a little smaller )

I really like the look of the prodigy but I don't think it will fit.
