graphics card and a weird board combination

I had problems with my new board so i had to return it.Now i m left with a "Dual core" + "Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L"(old system).I have a 1080ti asus strix and cooler master v1000 sitting free.If i use this 1000w supply:
Is its a good idea to attach my asus 1080ti with this "Gigabyte GA-G31M-ES2L" board.
**AND YA I KNW I CANT PLAY GAMES AS PROCESSOR IS REALLY WEAK**.but i have a relative(kid),he wanna play GOTHIC 3.So.....
Board spec says:
1 x PCI Express x16 slot (**Gen is not clear,probably 1)
1 x PCI Express x1 slot (Gen is not clear,probably 1)
2 x PCI slots (Gen is not clear,probably 1).

You could try it, it's not like you'll hurt anything. I'm not too sure what the results will be like, try it and see.
