Graphics card and general component dilemmas

So, after trying various combinations of graphics cards, processors, motherboards and other components, I think I may have finally found a combination that is reasonable for my budget. The only thing I'm a bit unsure about is whether or not the graphics card is actually compatible with the motherboard or not and if the graphic card is even worth buying. And will I be able to overclock with the motherboard I have chosen? Because if it isn't I might aswell forget buying the K version of the processor and instead save a couple of bucks by buying the non K-version. Other than that I'm also a bit unsure about the PSU. Do I need a 650w PSU for this rig or can I run it without worries on a 550w? And the last thing I'm unsure about. Is the GTX760 card I have chosen very bad compared to e.g a more expensive GTX770? The reason why I chose that particular 760 was because I could save about 100USD, but is it worth paying 100USD more for a GTX770?

By the way, all the parts I have chosen are listed here http://www.komplett.no/k/shoplist.aspx?mode=receive&si=1277325&su=E19CA3D2-FAA8-40A1-B51B-831BEA72A45D

For the graphics card, I suggest a Gigabyte 760 2GB, 4GB is not useful for 1 monitor.
As for the 770, it is a nice upgrade, but with the 760 you should be able to play all games at Ultra at decent fps. Also, don't forget to overclock you graphics card, which is basically optimized for overclocking (gigabyte 760).

As for the motherboard, you don't have to spend so much to get a decent motherboard. If you want very good quality and sound for less (and MSI makes very bad motherboards), i suggest the Asus maximus vi gene.

The power supply may not be able to handle this, so i suggest a Corsair TX 650W.

As for the Hard Drive, DO NOT EVER get a SEAGATE. The WD Blue 1TB should give better and MORE RELIABLE performance.

I hope this helps :ange:

Thanks for an informative answer. I have applied the changes you recommended. However, would I have to change the PSU to anything higher than 650w if I switch the GTX760 to a GTX770? I swapped the 650w PSU to an 750w PSU, but I'm not sure if that is overkill? The price and manufacturer was the same, though.

Well done. In power supplies, there is no overkill, more power is always better, for stability and more upgradability.

Yeah, that was what I thought aswell. However, do you think there is anything else on my list that I could swap out to make the rig better or cheaper? I don't want to make it much more expensive, however there may be better options in the same price range as the components I have chosen. Or what do you think?

I looked at your list, and it said Z87-A motherboard. As i mentioned above, swap that out with the Maximus VI Gene (link in my previous post).
As for the case, i HIGHLY recommend the Fractal Design Arc Midi R2. It has the best cooling, the best space and overall is the best case for the price (and its a swedish company, if that interests you):

Otherwise, the build is good :ange:

LoL, the overall price got higher when I added the parts you recommended. But, I guess that is just how it is when it comes to computers. You start of real cheap, and then it just gets more and more expensive 😛

Really? Wow. Well, that is happening to me right now, im currently in the phase of finalising parts for my brothers build, and i share your experience of the parts getting more expensive 😛

Yeah, it's pretty annoying. But I don't think I can make it much cheaper now without compromising the performance and quality of the PC. I could of course go for a GTX760 and save about 110 British pounds, but then I will most likely have to upgrade it in the near future anyways. Again, then I could afford buying another GTX760 in the future and SLI bridge them together. Don't know if that is worth the money or not, but that may be an option. What do you think? Do you have any experience when it comes to dual wielding graphics cards?

I have never used 2 GPUs together, but i have a friend who DID. There are several problems with running 2 GPUs. Firstly, the PCIe lanes get less bandwith, decreasing the effectiveness of both the cards. Also, dual gpu's can cause micro-lags that can be crucial in gameplay.

Overall, go for the 770 and don't sli.
Could you also please select a "Best Answer" so this thread can help people that have similar problems.

Wow, you really answer quickly. Me like 😛
Ok, that is pretty much the recommendations I have heard or read on other forums, aswell. Guess I will stick to the setup I have already chosen. And I will of course select a best answer :)

PS: Can you explain how to select a "best answer"?

Hmh, can't seem to find it. The only buttons I can see in the bottom right corner is the "quick edit", "full edit" and "Add/remove quote" buttons.

I have included a picture to help you. This is an example of how it looks like on my question (but someone else's post):
