I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and monitor within the next year to be able to run 1440p 144hz on an ips monitor.

My build
I7-8700k
16gb 3200 ram
Gtx 1060 6gb ssc
1080p 60hz ips monitor

I'm waiting a little while to upgrade my monitor and graphics card as I dont want to spend more than $1000 combined. What monitors and graphics cards should I be watching out for?

Solution
1440p / 144Hz, assuming you want to aim for high/ultra settings, I'd look to an absolute minimum of a 1070TI. Ideally a 1080TI for best results (within budget...ish).

Unfortunately, for 1440p, 144Hz and an IPS panel, you're looking at >$400.
Opting for a VA can be a fair compromise vs TN, and would knock ~$100 off the price of entry for the panel.

With a VA panel, you could just about get a 1080TI and panel at your budget!.

An IPS panel with a 1070TI (or 1080) would be under budget.

Honestly, I don't see being able to squeeze a 1080TI and 1440p/144Hz IPS panel into a $1k USD budget anytime soon.
