Graphics card blank/black screen resolution 640x480 shows input is dvi but its hdmi

Okay so my issue seems to be an unusual one or at least an extension to already existing ones, but basically when I turn on the pc with the hdmi plugged into the GPU, a blank screen appears with an 640x480 resolution and it says that it's DVI and not HDMI which is strange because I never used that outlet. If this is anything to go by, it also shows that there's an code 43 'A problem occured with this device' that appears under the device manager whilst using mobo graphics to try find a solution. Any idea on what the cause could be? Any suggestions are appreciated cos if I can, i rather avoid buying a new card. Thanks in advance.
The graphics card is a asus GeForce gtx 1060 3gb

Do you have proper drivers installed ?

If by proper you mean up to date then yes, I used the ddu software to clear out and reinstall all the drivers
