Hey guys, I’m a completely clueless when it comes to building PCs and checking their compatibility, any help would be greatly appreciated. I recently obtained a dell optiplex 9020 mini tower pc. I was wondering if a msi gtx 1070 would fit inside the motherboard linked below. What about a 1060 as well?

Thanks for any help mates.

The OptiPlex 9020 Mini Tower are tested with only one type of power supply at Dell i.e. the 290 Watt, suitable video cards are:

AMD, Radeon R5 240, 1GB
NVIDIA, GeForce GTX 645, 1GB
AMD, Radeon R7 250, 2GB
NVIDIA, GeForce GTX 745, 4GB
AMD, Radeon HD8490, 1GB
These are compatible. People have discovered others don't work.

If your thinking about putting a different power supply in, that Dell model uses a special proprietary 8-pin connector not found on anything else.

I’m willing to change the psu to a 800w psi and use a special 24 pin to 8 pin adapter. Would a gtx 1070 fit in that PCI Express x16 slot (wired as x4) or does it go in the other slot

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 DirectX 12 GTX 1070 AERO ITX will fit for sure (without even guessing).

You will need PSU upgrade to around 500 watt, not more. PSU must have supplemental 8 pin connector.

CORSAIR RMx Series, RM550x, 550 Watt one of the best for cheap. Better have medium power very good PSU, than high power not so good one. That one is Modular - you can use only cables you need, less clutter in the case.

Anything else I can help you with?
