Graphics card crashes when playing games

hello, i have a problem, when i launch a game, it either crashes instantly or just after 20 min of playing, my screen turns black, and i can't do anything, i have to restart my pc. it doesn't happen when i surf in the onternet, watch movies, it happens only when i play games.
my pc specs;
cpu: i5 6500
ram:8 gb corsair vengance ddr4 3200 mhz
mbo: msi z270
gpu: gtx 980ti
can someone help me with this problem? i mean is there anything i can do to fix this?

Have you checked your temps while gaming? Surfing the net and watching movies don't stress the GPU at all.

Also what version graphics driver is installed?
