Is my Sapphire R7 360 graphics card I just bought today dead? I have uninstalled the integrated graphics drivers. I have also successfully installed the physical card into the PCIe 16x slot, but no luck in getting the display to work when it's attached to the card's DVI-D port nor the motherboard's DVI-D. Do note that I am using a Molex to 6-pin connector provided by Sapphire and that my PSU is compatible.
Is this card dead and need an exchange or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks :)

Does your psu not have a 6pin connector on it? You should definitely use that if it does. If not, I would guess your psu is too weak, as a 6pin pci connector is pretty commonplace. Amd recommends 500w for that card. Do you know the wattage of your current psu?

Frankly I have a 300-watt PSU but people say that your PSU must be at least twice the power consumption of the card, and according to Sapphire, the card runs at max, 150 watts, so the supply runs borderline close (and I'm not going to run any high-performance games).

yeah my CPU and computer fan spins, but my screen doesn't receive an input - it just remains in standby.

Ok if the PSU is an issue then I'll go buy one (it's not that expensive anyways)
CPU: Intel Core i3-2120
RAM: 4 GB
HDD: 1.5 TB Western Digital
Motherboard: IPISB-CU (Carmel2) microATX mobo

Yeah 300w probably isn't enough. Here a quality psu on newegg right now, 30$ after 20$ mir. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139050&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

If I may, Corsair's CX is tier four power supply - I highly suggest not to recommend tier four or higher power supplies.

This XFX is a much better choice and is tier second.

Well I do live in Canada so according to newegg.ca, it's $84.99. I have found some cheaper ones in Canada Computers, but thanks for the solution! 🙂

I had never heard of that list before, lots of info in there though, good to know! kind of makes me regret my current psu (corsair cx750m) :O However I have had it for quite some time and it runs my hardware without any problems.

The cx series is far more than enough for a 360 and an i3 way way more than enough,

Im guessing the 300 watt psu is a no name brand that puts out at most 220 watts safely.

HP is the worst for that, as is acer and other makers aside from Dell whose psu's are for the most part accurately rated.

A cx series is fine for this setup, saying it isnt sufficient is a crazy misconception, but seeing as how OP is Canadian The cx series are far overpriced here in Canada these days and seem to be relying strictly on the name Corsair to sell the product at a price that borders on foolish when compared to similar priced units produced by xfx or Rosewill, EVGA, Seasonice. FSP and others.

Here is the most affordable and lowest quality I can recommend you purchase to power that setup. Mind you I only checked Canada computers, Newegg and NCIX (whom I am no longer willing to deal with)

This would be somewhat better if you do not mind a mail in rebate.

Ok I just bought a Cooler Master modular 650-watt PSU (in case I move to a more power-hungry card).
Thank you all for helping!

UPDATE: The PSU is apparently dead, according to a representative I chatted to. Dammit!

Ok I exchanged the PSU but now my graphics card itself doesn't work... I request assistance again!
Another question: After I remove the integrated graphics and put in the card, which display port do I put my DVI-D cable in? The built in one or the card one?
I hope it's not a double bluff... or I have the worst luck in history of mankind.

You lost me at "remove the integrated graphics". Do you mean unplug the monitor cable?

It's the add-on card you need to take out then plug the monitor lead into the built-in (integrated) DVI or D-Sub as appropriate. If the BIOS settings don't send it looking for the add-on card, you should see some action on the screen, assuming it works

I meant uninstalling the integrated graphics and putting in the card, so I don't think your answer would actually work...
The reason why I'm asking is because I have no output on all ports that I can plug the display in.
I was wondering if I did something wrong.

It's doubly anoying if you can't even see the BIOS to make the change to the graphics setting to look out for the add-on card first. Silly question time - are you sure the monitor works?

Back in post #1 you said you'd uninstalled the driver for the integrated graphics so it's best to concentrate on the card. If it has dual cabling facilities, try both at the same time if possible.

Does teh card have it's own power input connector and if so, is it tied to the new PSU??

Of course the monitor works xP
The problem is that I can't find an option for the BIOS to switch the video to the PCIe 16x slot... I'll post a picture of the BIOS if I can get one ASAP.
Of course, the power connector's plugged into the PSU.
I think the problem is that there's no BIOS option to switch the video to the graphics card.
Another plausible problem is that the drivers aren't installed prior to the card installation, though I'm not sure.

Did u solved it bro? i have the same problem, The fan spins and i tested the card on 2 computers, but windows doesnt recognize it. Help pleasee

Oh yeah, I did, but I think it was on a separate post on Tom's Hardawre. I got a GTX 660 Ti, which is old enough for it to be compatible with a non-UEFI BIOS (or at least I think that's the reason it worked). Either way, it's better than an R7 and for second-handed cards, it's really cheap.

Bottom Line and my solution: If you have an old motherboard, use an older graphics card just to be safe.
