System info
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Version: 1607
Build: 14393.51
PC specs
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5 GHz (not overclocked)
GPU: Gigabyte R9 270 2GB (2 and a half years old) (driver version 15.301.1101 from February 2016) (connected using an HDMI cable)
Motherboard: Gigabyte 78LMT
PSU: Corsair VS650
RAM: 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance
Yesterday while watching a youtube video I got a gray/black screen, the audio stuttered and my PC restarted.
15 or so minutes after restarting the same thing happened but this time I got a BSOD on boot-up with a "Video TDR Failure" message.
After that I started up GTA V, 5 minutes in, same thing happened.
I thought it was a driver problem but decided to try the latest Windows 10 update that I had been putting off for a while.
There were no problem following the update until two hours ago when I got another gray/black screen while playing GTA and a "No Signal" message on my monitor. I connected my old one using a VGA to DVI converter and I got to a BSOD after the Windows loading screen and there were artefacts everywhere. Here (http://i.imgur.com/EXVuuSo.jpg) you can see how BIOS looked while I was trying to turn on the onboard GPU (Ati HD 3000). That didn't work so I had to remove my card. This is how it looks - front (http://i.imgur.com/ZbwbwHw.jpg) / back (http://i.imgur.com/HUiE0Bm.jpg). A bit dusty I know but the temperatures were always ok, 60-62C in GTA, measured using OpenHardwareMonitor.
So, I guess the card is dead but I need a confirmation. I don't really have the money for a new one and the prices of R9 270s are just 10 euro less than what they were 2 and and a half years ago.
EDIT: The only problem I have now with the onboard GPU is that there are black borders around my screen. Apparently the latest Catalyst version that supports Radeon HD 3000 doesn't work on Windows 10. I removed the drivers for the 270 by using Display Driver Uninstaller in safe mode before that.
Is there a way to remove the black borders without using Catalyst?
