Hello, hope this question goes through and thanks for your time in advance.
I will start by including my system specs I built it in 2008, it's getting very old actually, but boy it still runs pretty damn sweet ;-)
I have a first gen core I7 920 on an intel DX58SO motherboard both original from November 2008, I recently updated from bios 5599 to 5600<--this new bios update is the newest update and its from 2013 😵. it's not my issue, I'm just pointing it out for lols.
It has 6 gigs of Gskill 9-9-9-24 triple channel rated for 1600-mhz - Original
850watt silverstone decathelon modular Power supply- original
I originally started with an xfx gtx285 but it was replaced under warranty with an xfx radeon hd7770 2 years ago
Western digital HDD original
xigmatek dark knight cpu cooler-Original have replaced the thermal paste twice, with the over clock at 3.6ghz the i7 will reach 81º with Aida64 FPU only test but during normal operation is rarely sees above 65ºC
Dual monitors set up like this
DellST2220m 1920x1080 with dvi to hdmi cable
Acer X223w 1680x1050 with just a dvi cable
set up in extended view
I've never had problems with either of these monitors until upgrading to windows 10
Originally running vista, for almost 8 years...only recently did i do a format/repartition and clean install of windows 7 then immediately upgraded to windows 10. windows 10 seems fantastic and runs pretty well, and has made my computer over all more stable and it can finally run 1600mhz memory speeds instead of blue screening constantly. In fact every single thing about upgrading to windows 10 has been better I'm finally able to update my graphics drivers because amd stopped supporting vista. Everything is running top notch like brand new, actually better than brand new because I can finally over clock and have things run real nice.
the ONLY problem i am encountering, is a terrible issue involving either a flash player or an internet browser, but it's pissing me off,
some monitors showing you some info in case you want it
BTW just a heads up It is NOT an overclock issue because it happens at stock clocks on gpu,cpu and memory also. It is NOT a monitor problem because i got it to happen on the acer as well.
THIS is the problem
everything will be running top notch, 3d games, benchmarks, prime 95, aida whatever you want ill even be browsing the internet while doing all of this whether im over clocked or not and everything runs superb, until i try to play a video in a web browser, mainly firefox, this happens
Now remember, i said i got this to happen on the acer, ... I tried to open a video, doesn't matter what screen i open the video on, and it doesn't happen every time i open a video, only randomly. It always starts on the Dell 2220m monitor, I thought the monitor was just cooking itself and time for a new one, So when it happened, I removed the Hdmi/dvi cable from the Dell and connected it to the Acer and sure enough, the Acer started doing this too, tons of lines horizontally all over the screen. I then put the Acers DVI/DVI cable into the Dell, and low and behold, it was now doing it on both monitors 😵 I put the cables back to their original monitors, and still, both monitors were doing this. My mind is officially boggled. The only way to get it to correct itself is to reboot then everything goes back to working perfectly. until the next time it decides to randomly do this when i open a video.
This started happening after I upgraded to windows 10 and upgraded my graphics drivers, but before i updated the bios.
It doesn't matter what cable is connected to the monitors, it still happens. It doesn't matter if anything is over clocked or not, it still happens. It doesn't matter which monitor is set to primary, it still happens. both monitors are some how capable of this, both cables are some how capable of this, but it has only ever initially started on the Dell monitor.
Well, I'm not the smartest knife in the drawer but I tried to include as much info as possible. please let me know if there is more info i should provide, Thanks again
When I take a screen shot at the same time that this issue is occuring, i get a 100% normal screen shot.
EDIT, what I have done to try and resolve this
Updated BIOS
removed and reinstalled graphics drivers
All kinds of display settings
removing and reinstalling adobe flash player
resetting everything to default clocks,specs.
swapping monitors cables
ran many benchmarks and stress tests to try to find a weak link, and nothing ever happens until i try to play a video, the video will still play and shows up clear as day in a screen shot, but the display is garbled like the picture, WHAT IN THE........ anyone?
