Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 560 with on board graphics. Couple of years ago I added a GT 240 card.

Recently I moved the PC to a different room and it started to freeze and crash. Initially i thought it is the ancient hard drive, but then the screen went blank. When I connect the pc through onboard graphics it works, so i thought the video card is fried.
I bought a MSi Radeon 6450 and the problem persists. When I connect the screen via the graphics card the screen is blank (computer boots). When I take the card out and connect via onboard graphics it works.

Any ideas what is wrong? Thanks.

1. Turn off the computer and unplug
2. Remove Graphic card
3. Plug the monitor to your onboard video output
4. Turn on the computer
5. Click on start and type msconfig
6. Select the Boot tab and click on the box that says Safe boot with minimal selected.
7. Apply then click ok.
8. DO NOT RESTART.
9. Shut Down computer and unplug
10. Install Graphic card
11. Turn on the computer (should boot into safe mode)
12. Go into Device Manager
13. Expand Display Adapter
14. Disable the Onboard drivers (DO NOT UNINSTALL)
15. Click the start button and type msconfig
16. Unclick Safe boot
17. Restart

Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately this did not help.

I do not get any screen Neither the PC "welcome screen" or BIOS options. So I think the issue happends before windows installs the drivers.
