If your system currently recognizes the GPU, then I assume the PC is working fine, and all the necessary Motherboard and chipset drivers are also installed. But in any case, check this info and install the firmware, and other necessary chipset drivers like Vga, network, audio etc, IF need be. Updating the system BIOS won't be necessary though.
You can also use the Motherboard's CD to install these system drivers/firmware and check for updates, or else, just go to the Motherboard's support page and then install/update them.
