Graphics Card DVI Output & Flickering Monitor?

Hello,

For the past month or so, I've been having trouble with a flickering monitor. It will not flicker on/off, but will flicker between normal display and a dimmed display. It will sometimes get stuck on this dimmed display, but is often remedied by wiggling the DVI connector around where it attaches to the card.

I can confirm that neither the cable, or monitor is at fault, as I have tested it with multiple leads and displays. It is the first DVI Output on an ATI Radeon HD 4850 card. I have two monitors, and the second DVI Output works perfectly.

I've looked around to try and find a fix for this problem. I would have thought it was a faulty connection somewhere on the card itself, but some posts suggest turning the memory clock down to 900MHz. I tried this, but to no avail.

Am I doomed to a flickering, dimmed monitor until I get a new card, or is there some sort of fix for this?

Any help or advice offered would be appreciated greatly.

This could actually be the monitor's connector (where you attach the DVI cable).
Try installing new drivers for both your monitor and your graphics card.
If symptoms persist, return it if possible.

Hope this helps.
