Graphics card fans are on but no video output

My set up:

intel i5 4460
msi z97s sli krait edition
msi gtx960 2g
evga 750w bronze

My problem is when my graphics card is plugged in and hooked up to a monitor (hdmi) the card has no video output so the monitor just goes in to sleep mode, but when i pull the card and hook the monitor up to onboard graphics (hdmi) the monitor works fine.

It is a new build which i put together a few days ago, also the graphics card was working but i shut down my computer to go to work and when i turned it on a few hours later this happened and has happened since.

Anybody know what to do?

Check your BIOS to insure your set to the PCI as primary video output. You will need to hook your monitor into the onboard port to do this.

Do this with the graphics card installed? Because when the card is installed I get no output from onboard graphics

Yes, if it's your only way. Does your display come up before Windows loads?

So I put the graphics card in and plugged a monitor up to my onboard and the graphics card then turned the computer on but I'm getting no output from the onboard graphics now

So I got back from work again and tried putting the graphics card in a different pcie slot and still the same thing, the graphics card fans are running but no video output and the same with the onboard graphics. while my graphics card is plugged in I don't get any video out of the onboard graphics.

So I'm not sure how to change the setting in the bios to output to a pcie slot if I don't get video out out of either graphics.

Any help still???

You need to use the onboard graphics, plug the display into the motherboard, not your graphics card to change this.
