I recently had a power supply short circuit and my new one arrived today. I have come to the conclusion that all components are working fine except for the GPU.

when i was testing with an old GPU i had i got display and interface so all is good there, but when i plugged in my GPU i forgot to plug in the PCI-E cables, the fans spun and i got a black screen saying "please plug in necessary power cable for this graphics card" or something like that, but when i powered down and plugged in the cables it shows nothing no fans spinning no nothing. i would like to know if my graphics card is shot or it just needs some TLC.

graphics card: nvidia geforce gtc 770 gigabyte windforce 4gb
mobo: gigabyte 78lmt-usb m-atx
psu rosewill hive 750watt semi modular

please ask if you need more specs

First attempt a reinstallation of the card making sure all connectors are secure and that the card is sat firmly in its PCI-E x16 slot - not at a slight angle.

Do you see your motherboard's splash screen before the display shuts down during boot, or is even that not displayed? If you see your motherboard's splash screen it's possible Windows is set to a resolution the card doesn't like, in which case try various resolution changes via enabling Integrated Graphics to get you to the Windows Desktop (either by removing the card, or disabling the PCI-E x16 slot via the Motherboard's BIOS).

You could also try a fresh driver install of the latest, non-Beta drivers from your GPU manufacturer's website (either Nvidia or AMD).

If at all possible try the card in a different rig. That's your surest sign as to whether it's a hardware malfunction or a bad setting / driver install on your current rig.

If you are getting signal with the old gpu and not the new one most probably the display got short so RMA it.

it does not show anything at all it stay black, my monitor has a power button that is yellow while idle so i would know if it was receiving anything if it turned blue, which it isnt. i choose not to use beta drivers because i find i get better performance with the games is play.

I ordered it from newegg but would they take an RMA even though tecnically "I" broke it?

If the card's still under warranty, and you didn't drop it, smash it or pour some kind of liquid on it (or set fire to it, or w/e) then odds are they'll honour the warranty. Depending on what country you're in, reference Gigabyte's RMA website for how to proceed.

If Newegg won't handle the warranty then contact Gigabyte directly and see if they'll deal directly with you. They'll require a proof of purchase (email receipt or physical receipt) as well as the card's serial number. You'll also have to pay a small RMA charge.

They will first attempt to repair the card and, if that proves impossible, will replace the card - assuming you meet all their RMA criteria.

why not if there no physical damage or sign of burn in the GPU they should have to take dont mentioned about any power outage just say its it suddenly died .
