Graphics card fans?

Probably a silly question but... My gpu has 3 fans on it I don't understad how they work if all three are blowing into the gpu or two in one out etc but when I change the fan settings through msi am I just changing the fan speed of the fans connected to the mobo or am I also changing the fan speed of my gpu fans also?

When I click onto fan settings I have changed the fan speed according to heat it changed according to the heat of the gpu ( before changing it fan speeds would never go past 40 out of 100 wtf ) so is there any way to change the cpu fan speed? I recently played Skyrim cpu never got hotter than 40 degrees then I decided to play gta san andreas just to see what it's like on a pc and gpu didn't go above 40 but the cpu was maxing around 55 but I don't think the cpu fan sped up at all I think it was staying around 30 out of 100 ( cpu water cooled connected to the cpu 4pin on the motherboard )

According to...
The fan speed profiles are setup to be as quite as possible while keeping the components within a certain thermal envelope.

For a CPU, 55c (under load) is nothing to be concerned about, 75c and up is when you should be looking into things. For a GPU, it depends on the model, the R9 290 and 290X are designed to go as high as 95c, but aftermarket coolers keep them below that to prevent throttling. It really depends on the model as the current nVidia cards tend to run cooler.

From the temps you mention here, you are well within normal range for load temps, nothing I see should be a problem.

Edit: To answer the first question, all the fans blow down onto the GPU heatsink and the heat comes out the sides.

My gpu is a gtx 770 Jetstream 4gb do you know what the maximum temparture is for this that you shouldn't be going over?

According to the nVidia website, the 770 starts throttling at 80c, which means that it will slow itself down to lower heat. This doesn't change with aftermarket cards, the coolers are usually just more efficient and keep the GPU from hitting that temp.
