Question graphics card for ASUS® Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA

Hi All, I am looking to upgrade my graphics card. I currently have a GTX 710. My motherboard is a ASUS® Z170 PRO GAMING/AURA. Is it safe to go for a 1080ti or even higher? I have noticed that there is 1 cable for power but unsure if I need to buy a new power lead or even if it's compatible. Sorry I'm really new to this. Any help most appreciated.

...and as long as your at it....how much memory.

That PSU is going to have to get replaced.

UK here. Not so much of a budget issue at the moment. I'm still researching. ok. So for instance I'm looking possibly at a GTX 1080 ti. Maybe a 2070. Just want to make sure the euipment will support it, like you mentioned @tennis2 if the PSU needs replacing then that's what I'll look at. Any suggestions?
