Hi, I am looking for advice for an upgrade to the graphics on my Intel DG41MJ mobo which has integrated graphics.
Ideally the PCI card would have HDMI out, but I am just looking for something that would improve the graphics output a fair bit.
Any suggestions please?

Anything saying PCI 2.0 is PCIe 2.0, yes, you are correct. They misprinted their names. There is no PCI 2.0, or the slots are still just referred to as PCI.

The GT 610 I linked is a PCI card like your motherboard supports. There aren't many PCI cards faster than it, at least not that I'm aware of. It would give you a good performance boost from your integrated graphics. The Radeon 5450 is rather weak; it might be fine for Youtube streams, but the GT 610 is around the same price and much better, so it's worth going to just to be sure.
Forget it.
With a PCI and not PCI-E slot you're never going to get anywhere near acceptable gaming performance - the bandwidth is just too low.
775 boards are cheap now - you could replace your motherboard for around £20 (eBay) then go to either eBay or CeX and take your pick of good, cheap cards. GeForce 250's are very (£5) cheap here from CeX or similar retailers and are a lot better than your average GeForce 210 you would get new.

Otherwise, if you wish to stick with your current board, and get something like this. http://www.hisdigital.com/gb/product2-580.shtml - the best card you can get with the PCI connector. Still not great but OK-ish I guess for media playback. Even then your board might not work with GPUs in the PCI connector - check the BIOS first for any options referring to graphics.

A PCI 2.0 would be a PCI-E card yes?
I found plenty of 610's as a PCI 2.0 but that would be the wrong version I presume.
Sorry brain has turned to mush in my old age...

I have been looking for a GT610 and cannot find any in the UK for sale. I will just have to set up a search in Flebay and hope one turns up.
Actually I have looked for any PCI video cards and cannot find anything apart from a used card which someone wanted £40 ($60).
I will keep looking, in the meatime this little project goes on hold until a card turns up.
Thanks for the help.
