i am looking for a graphics card for my gaming needs
my monitor is 17 inch max resolution 1280x 1024
my pc config is as follows:
amd 3600+ 2.1 ghz
2 gb ram 667 mhz
320 gb sata hdd
460 watt smps coolermaster

please suggest me a good graphics card that can run all the recent games at the above resolution at max settings(but no AA & AF)
looking for a good graphics card in ATI.
and motherboard does not support crossfire and sli

please if possible give a card which can fit in the budget of around $ 80 .

thanks for the help. its appreciated.
the shop near me offers 4650 is it good enough????
if not, i will try to get the card you recommended
thanks again. my budget is just enough.

Your processor is pretty bad and especially at low resolutions you are talking about it's going to be the issue, not your card. The HD4670 is a good bit better than the HD4650 and it's not much more expensive but with that processor I doubt it would matter all that much. Either way you should try to overclock that thing if at all possible or just upgrade it if that's an AM2 motherboard.
Basically get the HD4670 and start saving to upgrade the processor. Or just get the HD4650 if you aren't going to bother upgrading the CPU.

saving for a new processor is difficult as graphics card is the only thing i am going to be upgrading(not enough budget). do you still think hd4670 is better. i think i can overclock the processor a bit.

yeah, get the HD4670 and OC that thing. It should OC quite a bit i think.
If you aren't getting the results you desire look into a new processor. If the board is AM2 a Kuma based chip should work and be just fine for your purposes. They are also pretty cheap, $50-70.

😱 Do you use binoculars when you play games?

Seriously you need a new monitor…

Here is a useful guide to help you to choose a new monitor.

Monitor size___usage
17’ __________Joke
19’ __________no use, is only suitable for the garbage.
22’ __________for office use, nothing more.
26’ __________you can play some games.
30’ __________perfect for games.

heres something for you since we are not all made of money
go take your bullshit elsewhere and f*** yourself (or go to 4chan)

I'm not familiar with a 2.1GHz AMD 3600+. Exactly what AMD processor are you running? Is it a Single Core Sempron 3600+, or a dual core Athlon X2 3600+ ?

The reason for asking, if it's a single core, there is no need looking for a graphics card that can run max details, as your CPU will prevent you from running max details.

Look at this link: COD4 is not that demanding, but note how the A64 4000+ doesn't stand a chance at max details:
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/athlon-gaming-benchmark,2054-10.html

If however your mobo supports a cheap dual core CPU, AND you would consider upgrading sometime soon... then it would be worth buying more GPU that your current CPU can handle.

If it's a dual core, then you have a much better shot at your goal. 1280x1024 is a low resolution, but an HD 4670 sure won't max all games. A game such as Crysis will stress a GTX 260 / HD 4870 at that res ( DX10 very high). The again, the GPU you can use will depend on the max combined +12V output of your PSU. 4670 / 9600GT would be good options. A 9600GSO would be worth considering to save cash too (recently $35 AR with COD5 at Newegg). Just don't expect to "MAX" ALL games on any $80 card.

thank you all for the suggestions .
I think i am gonna buy hd4670 now
and to the guy who told me to buy a new monitor.
if i had enough money to buy a new monitor (30 inch) i would rather go for a complete system upgrade(new mobo and processor) because buying a 30 monitor costs around $899 that comes about around 45000 rupees(indian currency) for that much money i can buy a very good processor and a mobo and still save enough to buy HD4850x2.
so it is totally a waste of resources. and i dont have that much money
i am a budget category not enthusiast with cash to burn .

my budget was around 5000 rs so i can get hd 4670 in my budget.
my processor is dual core 3600+.
So thank you all for the good suggestions.

to tell you the truth my brother uses 15 monitor
and when you are playing against human players in CS and AOE 17 is enough cause you cannot keep your eyes rolling here and there.
and i play like 1 hardest in AOE . so i need to see everything on screen in one glance. cannot move my eyes a lot everytime. dont have enough time to marvel the beauty of the scenes.

and the graphic card is to enhance the experience. to be able to spend the free time playing graphic heavy games(not like crysis, something modest like DMC4). anyways thanks for the suggestion.
will look into it when i start earning myself. cannot burn my dads cash just like that.

i dont know whether my motherboard can overclock or not. it is ASUS M2N-MX

Oh so you would recomend a GTX295 to someone with a 17inch monitor then would you ? Or a 4550 to someone who wanted to play @ 1680 x1050 then would you ?

Your talking complete cobblers, do you need a lesson in how differant resolutions use differant numbers of pixels ? Higher res = more Pixels = needs a better GPU to run it properly. Lower res=less Pixels= do not need as much GPU power to run it properly.
Its not rocket science.

Mactronix

Now wasn't that a wallet showoff... "22’ __________for office use, nothing more. "...what's wrong with you ?
I pitty you because you are really spoiled and can't really value things correctly.

A 9600gt wouldnt be bad at all for your system since i have one on my athlon 3500+ with still DDR1 400, and it does well for that system.
And no i didnt bought the card for it, my previous card, a gf7900gt died and i RMA it and they gave me this one.

Oh, and i can play prototype on it, in my 17"inch_jokelike monitor.
I actually have dual monitor, but i play the game at 1280x1024x32bit.

that maybe cheap for you, but not me sir.
it is real expensive here. the standar of living is lower here compared to canada, and also products cost more.
eg the hd 4670 is like 100usd here. whereas its aound half that price there.
