Solution
AMD 280 or an nvidia 960 are going to be your sweet spots for budget cards that will run it well on high settings. A 750ti should be good for medium settings.

What about the AMD R9 270?Any better?Worse?

The 270 is a great mid-range gpu, much better choice than the 750 ti, but a little more expensive.

i agree. if your buying a card i would wait till the gta 5 release date gets close since its in april now. the amd 300 cards should be out by then and you might be able to get a really good deal on a new gfx card. that is if your trying to get a new card just for gta.

Im a Budget Gamer,$700
Also 500 Watts - Corsair CX500M CX Series Modular 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

I stick with my choices then, but still not very sure in how much money you can spend on the gpu.

What's strange is, when you look up the Minimum vs Recommended specs for GTAV on Steam it says.... "Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD 7870 2GB" For the recommended, not even minimum, which to me seems to say that you can play it max settings with the "recommended" As I have a GTX 660 I'm planning to upgrade soon anyway, but I might wait until after the game launches just to test the gameplay with that card.

Recommended specs don't mean what is needed to run at 60fps on max settings. Recommended specs just means to get what the devs feel is a pretty good experience with the game. That usually equates out to playing on a medium to high settings mix at a near constant 30fps.

Roughly $200

Very good point. But they maybe need to come up with a standard by which they are measuring. I mean minimum has a clear definition, anything less and you really can't play the game. Recommended should say, 30fps 1080p or whatever, so people are aware what they're talking about.

I agree. And with $200 to spend on a graphics card, I strongly recommend the GTX 960.
