Hi guys. I'm having a problem. I spent like last 6 months to buy myself a new dream PC, and now I'm having problem with it. Thing is that i only could afford PC, so i couldn't get myself new monitor. Instead i planned on using my old one that only has VGA connector. I bought an adapter that is HDMI to VGA . I connected everything and nothing happened, now i had to connect my vga monitor to my motherboard port. Graphics card is connected, pc recognizes it, I updated drivers, and still nothing.

Solution

guessing that's its faulty, but hey you never knew, i have a dp...
I'm not sure, i got it from a guy that used same one to connect a rasberryPi to a VGA monitor. The package in witch adapter was had no information at all. When i googled "active adapter hdmi to vga" it shows in photos that its the same.

so it runs and display from mobo but not from gpu ?
have you tried that adapter on something else ? maybe its somewhat passive , but if its not maybe set the cards drivers and resolution, and maybe enable the "auto detect" function from the card's driver, and maybe it would recognize and works

Well i tried this adapter on my roommates laptop that has HDMI. I connected it and still it didn't work. No picture on my monitor. But strange thing is that when i plug in that adapter in my PC or in my roommates laptop windows gives that sound, that is heard when new device is plugged in, something like USB. And also when my monitor is connected to my motherboard, and my adapter is just connected to graphic's card (with no VGA inside it, just adapter plugged in GPU), my computer recognizes it as a second monitor. That i know because when i go to display setting it show's me that there are two displays.

Also I am using Windows 10 and my all drivers are up to date.

guessing that's its faulty, but hey you never knew, i have a dp to hdmi cable that works in my backup pc but not on my main pc, chances of luck i guess...

OK , they may look like the same , but they are different , Active HDMI 2 VGA is what you need, I found that some monitor with VGA port may connect directly to New game console as Xbox One , PS4 , some else may need a converter that would cost about 60$ , connect through Passive HDMI 2 VGA adapter . Weird thing, I found, HDMI to VGA monitor needs a Adapter , but VGA to HDMI needs a Converter .

Problem is fixed. The guy I bought this adapter from contacted me and asked me if i wanna try other adapter or refund, he brought the same adapter and it worked without a problem. So happy this is fixed. Thank you all for your time and have a nice day!!!
