Hi,
I am having a bit of a strange problem. I have owned my rig for 4 years now and has been chugging away just fine up until now.
Recently my PC wouldn't get past POST and the motherboard (Asrock z87 Extreme4) was throwing up error codes.
It will hang on error 99. When the CMOS is cleared it will run through tests up to 95 and then reboot. after reboot it will hang on 99 again.
I have managed to get the PC to boot by taking the following steps:
- Removed all components from case and attempted to boot with just mb, cpu, cpu cooler, graphics card, 1 ram, power supply,
- still tests to 95 then reboot (on first boot after cmos clear) then will hang on 99.
-tried all RAM slots
-tried second GPU port and swapped from the HDMI to the mini-display port with a VGA adapter & VGA to the monitor
-Got past POST!!!! This allowed me to get into the bios
-connected SSD and got into grub dual boot menu
-launched windows and pc crashed/turned off
-launched ubuntu & pc launched, but very slowly
-low cpu load and temps
-rebooted again, this time to windows - booted successfully. Low CPU temps functioning correctly
-switched back to HDMI - wont post & hangs on error 53.
-Swapped back to the mini -> VGA & booted successfully again.
-Swapped card back to slot 1 with vga connected. Booted to windows successfully
Anybody know what could be going on with my PC? Is there something in the HDMI input shorting somehow? or is this a motherboard issue? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
I was using a TV as a monitor for a long time but recently switched to an actually monitor that I borrowed. When I had to give back I swapped back to the TV and this happened not shortly after. I'm not sure if this is related but might help . . .
My specs:
ASRock Z87 Extreme4, Sockel 1150, ATX
Gigabyte Radeon HD 7950, 3GB GDDR5, PCI-Express
8GB Corsair Vengeance x1
Intel Core i5-4670K Box, LGA1150
Corsair CX Series Modular CX750M
Samsung SSD 840 EVO Basic 120GB
Corsair h100 Liquid Cooler
