Graphics card help? 7870 or 7950?

I have a 1280x1024 resolution monitor and I was wondering if the 7950 was worth the 90 dollars more? Also are there any graphics card in between these prices? Thanks for the help guys.

Get a Sapphire 7870 XT, it's in between. Almost a 7950 but at $250.

The next step down which I would recommend you do as well is to get a 7790. If you want some more performance though then opt for a 7850 or a 650 Ti Boost.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1080p monitor. Would the 7870 max out most games and upcoming games with that resolution or would a 7790/7850 be a good idea still?

I am not a fan of putting the cart before the horse.

I'm thinking of upgrading to a 1080p monitor. Would the 7870 max out most games and upcoming games with that resolution or would a 7790/7850 be a good idea still?

Well, what does the rest of your hardware look like? Adding a 7870 to a low end CPU is bound to create a bottleneck and not utilize the full capacity of the GPU.

Please provide your current hardware specs and your budget for upgrades.

Yes the 7870 is worth it. Faster than the GTX 660.

The free games are part of AMD's ridiculous Never Settle bundle. It's awesome.
