Hi everyone, I need some help deciding how to upgrade my Graphics card and a little question on the side pertaining to monitor as well.
First off my PC was built in 2015 so its still doing pretty good but it is time for another GPU and I wanna get advice from you all based on my specs how I should proceed spending my money for the best results. Now I will say up front I am not the most technical guy around so I have limited basic knowledge hence why I am here =).
PC Specs
*IntelCore i7-4790k CPU @ 4.00GHz
* 16.0 GB RAM G-SKill F#-1866 C9D Ripjaw
*Windows 10
* Samsung EVO 250 SSD
* WD 1 TB 7200RPM HD
*EVGA 750 Watt PSU
*ASUS Z97-A LGA1150 Motherboard
*Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO
*GigaByte GTX 970 GI 1329 MHz 4 GB (actually 3.5)
So heres the deal...I have 600 dollars to spend maybe little more but I would like to not go above 650 if I can help it and I need this card to have as much VRAM as possible and to be able to play most if not all games on high or higher settings. Most specifically I play Bethesda games Fallout 3,4 and Elderscrolls games and the upcoming unannounced Elderscroll game sometime in the next 2 years which I am mostly buying this for. I play other games such as Grim Dawn, Lotro, EQ2, Elderscroll Legends, ESO online, Marvel Puzzle Quest. I must be able to play these games on high settings, I don't much play shooters online on PC( I do console for that) Fallouts being the exception.
Now I went to best buy other day, guy told me based on my specs of my computer if I go anything higher than a Nvidia 1070 I am going to bottleneck my computer. The reason I bought a i7 was I was under the impression I would not have to worry about bottlenecking. I am pricing https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16... this and thinking this is what I may need but thats why I am asking you professionals what you think I should do.
Best buy guy also told me that I should wait 1 or 2 months for cards to drop for the next series to come out but my problem is I may not have the cash then to spend because I can never save money lol
It is doubtful that I will be overclocking any card because I never done it before or had a reason to or for that matter overclocking my processor.
Heres my main concern, can my PSU sustain the new cards out or a card within my price range because if you tell me yes then that will make me cry for the money I would need for my new monitor would have to be for PSU. The answer I am getting is PSU is ok but I wanted to be sure on here first.
Lastly, any recommendations on a new monitor? I pretty much decided on 1440, 1 MS 144hz
