The G1 Gaming one is probably the best in terms of raw power, but its also the most expensive.
It cost an extra 20-30 dollars (depending on currency) compared to the Windforce edition, and all you get around an extra 100 mhz of clock speed which you can overclock to that, and more, manually anyway and fancy backplate. THose are from Gigabyte, and if that's your preferred brand then those are the best choices im my opinion.
If you want something else, like from ASUS, I hear the ASUS Strix version is quite good. A bit cheaper than the Gigabyte G1 version, you get quieter, and more sophisticated but weaker fans (meaning it's more silent as well). However, it does have the same clock speeds as the Windforce edition, and is far more expensive. If you want a super budget version of the 970 then an ASUS turbo OC is the way to go, you get the reliability of an ASUS but cheap.
