So I built a PC at the end of May (http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Lvds6h) but used my previous graphics card (MSI GTX 770) due to other graphics cards being revealed (1070,1080 etc). I thought I would wait until prices drop or until all the flagship graphics cards come out for this year. Consequently, I am fed up of waiting and seek advice.

I had planned on purchasing a 970 but since waiting all this time I'm wondering whether I should still be waiting for prices to drop or to buy one now as they have dropped in price significantly? My current GPU is alright but doesn't achieve as high frame rates as I would hope for some games. Therefore, I would like to get a new one fairly soon.

Do I wait longer? If that's not advised, what would be the best value GPU for £300 or under?

Cheers.

For 1080P Rx 480 or GTX 1060 both are more than enough for this resolution :)
Your curent CPU is good for both GPUs.

I read a lot reviews and my conclusion is overall difference between cards including dx 12 and Vulkan titles is around 5% win for Nvidia ;)

Nvidia leading in DX11 and losing in DX12 and Vulkan titles with exceptions of Tomb Raider :)
Historically AMD cards gain over Nvidia in terms...
Price drops for 1070 and 1080 probably will happen when AMD release high end GPU in 2017.

Best valued GPUs under £300 GTX 1060 / RX 480 / R9 390X

-I'm looking to increase my fps in games such as Arma and star citizen as well as some mainstream games such as Mirrors Edge and Hitman which I plan to get.
-My current CPU and PSU can be found in my build here : http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/Lvds6h.
-1080 resolution as I don't have a 4k monitor.
-I don't plan on overclocking.

I was reading a few articles (http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2016/07/19/crunching-the-numbers-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-versus-amd-radeon-rx-480/#3418db344166) and it seems the 1060 and RX 480 are fairly neck and neck, but both are fairly cheap which is excellent!

Historically AMD cards gain over Nvidia in terms of performance over time * drivers get better and new games engines ;)
Final word grab cheapest one ;)

Thanks for the help and links. I've been reading as much as I can so I make a well informed final decision!

I already have an Nvidia so I thought I'd stick with the brand ;) Plus the majority of reviews I read lean more towards the 1060 rather than the RX 480.

But seen as they are so similar I'll take your word for it and go for the cheapest ;)

Cheers man :)
