Hello,
I have been trying to figure this out for a few days now. I want to have a tri-monitor set up and need a new graphics card for this. I'm using a dell optiplex 745 (minitower) specs- http://www.dell.com/downloads/global/products/optix/en/opti_745techspecs.pdf and an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro PCI Express (256 MB) graphics card

I was considering the ATI Radeon HD 5450, but it suggests a 400w power supply, its a ddr3 card, and i wasn't sure if my processor could handle it.

I also read somewhere that windows xp only supports 2 monitors?! Is that true? Also if it is would I be able to extend my screen onto 1 moniter and miror my primary monitor on the third?

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Graphics memory type makes no difference - it's separate from the rest of your system. I have DDR2 RAM and a DDR5 video card.

Do some more research on the vid card (and what ports you need on that card) needed for 3 monitors, Microsoft says xp supports up to TEN. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307873

And your PSU will handle a low-end video card like the 5450 just fine. AMD overestimates a lot on their recommended power supplies.
