Hello, before i get too far as far into my question i would like to clarify that i do indeed know this is an older system. and i do know i should update to a modern laptop but this one has served me well. i have a HP Pavilion DV4 2165dx that is running windows 10 (idk if that info helps) but it has a removable internal optical drive that i really dont use much and would benefit much more from added graphics hardware. does anyone know if it is possible to successfully install a graphics card into an optical disk drive? and if so does anyone know some cards that would be best compatible with my system? thanks

It's a laptop. Only HP Elitebooks had replaceable graphics based on MXM.

Unlike Dell you can't put an auxiliary battery in there, but there is a secondary 2.5" drive caddy you can buy to put the aforementioned HDD or SSD in.

It doesn't work like this; these are not interchangeable parts. You might as well try plugging your hair dryer into a bowl of soup.

thank you, but even thought there isnt a way to put a graphics card in an optical slot is there any other hardware that is compatible? i think this drive uses SATA if that means anything. this isnt so much a plan but just curiosity for general knowledge
