Hey guys. So recently I've built myself a PC and everything seems to be working fine except the graphics card. I've got the ASRock Z68 Extreme3Gen3 motherboard and a Gigabyte Radeon HD 6950 graphics card. For some strange reason, my graphics card seems to be not-working.
First, my PC is running off my MOBO's inbuilt graphics rather than the Radeon. I read a few things about how sometimes it's running off the grpahics, but the computer tells you it's the inbuilt, but this is not the case. I actually took out my graphics card entirely and then loaded up a game, which ran with the same quality as with the card in.
Next up, the ports at the back of my card don't appear to work. My monitor uses DVI, and the only port that seems to work is the one on my motherboard. The other two on my graphics card aren't getting recognized by the monitor.
Now, with that information, you'd assume the graphics card is just entirely not working; that I've connected it wrongly somehow. However, the weird thing I'm finding with it is that the fans on the card are running when the power's on. If the card was completely broken or if it wasn't connected, then why would the fans run? That doesn't make sense to me. I've also tried installing drivers with no clear results (possibly because the computer doesn't acknowledge my card?).
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd really like to know how to fix this, because a gaming PC is a little bit useless without a graphics card. Even if this is some tiny, stupid issue that I'm just not getting, please just let me know. xD
Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear from you.
