Graphics Card Issues

Hi All,

Need some advice as to what is occurring on my homebuilt HTPC and how to resolve it.

When I occasionally boot up my HTPC, I am experiencing issues with my graphics card. Sometimes Ill get a black screen (with no network activity, black screen of death?) where Ill have to hard reset a couple of times until it works again.

Then occasionally Ill lose sound through HDMI. My HTPC is connected to an Onkyo amp which is connected to my Samsung TV. What it will do is it will display ok on the TV but when you go to the sound mixer, it will say the amp isn't connected.

With these issues, I believe there to be possible reasons for these issues occurring:

1) Faulty graphics card (HD5770)
2) Driver incorrectly working (have checked and its the most uptodate version)
3) The graphics card is connected to the mobo with a PCI Express Riser Card (similar to http://linitx.com/product/10881)

Can anyone provide any insight into this?

Thanks,
Lawrence
