Graphics card issues

I have recently bought a new graphics card and it doesn't want to be detected. It simply doesn't show up no matter if I have deleted drivers of the iGpu or if I have placed PCIe to the main connection in Bios. All I get when I plug my monitor in is a no signal until I plug it into the mobo graphics. It is driving me crazy!

Motherboard: ASUS P8H61-M LE R2.0
Video card: MSI GeForce GT 730 http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127830
Ram : 8GB
Power: 300w
CPU: Intel i3-2100

Solution
I doubt that the operating system is the culprit. Normally when a graphics card isn't detected (by the operating system), the motherboard will still recognize that something is installed in the PCI Express x 16 slot. If it doesn't find a driver, the operating system will try to use a generic Microsoft graphics driver.

But since it didn't do this, the motherboard is operating as if no card is installed in the slot at all. And that isn't normal operation.
First off, I would check the Device Manager under Display Adapter. If it is detected, it will list the model of your graphics card. If it isn't it will try to install a generic display adapter.

If you have gone through the usual driver troubleshooting as you say, then I would first try clearing the CMOS. If that doesn't work then I would update the BIOS to the latest version available for your motherboard. That is the step that has worked for me in the past

Okay I will try the CMOS as I have already upted the BIOS to the latest version to no avail. And the device manager only shows the integrated INTEL HD iGpu. No hint of any new devices in the manager.

I hope it does not mean a faulty PCI Express slot! I just purchased this motherboard in september or so.

Like I mentioned, I would make sure that the graphics card is firmly seated in the first slot. Remove the card, clean the contacts, blow any dust out of the PCI Express x 16 slot, and then reinstall the graphics card (making sure that t he card is firmly seated). Then I would check the Device Manager again for the display adapter.

Assuming that your motherboard has more than one PCI Express x 16 slots, I would just move the graphics card to the other slot and test the detection of the graphics card. If the motherboard still doesn't detect the graphics card presence, you can assume that your motherboard is defective. Since you are past the normal 30 day return period, you will probably need to go through the manufacturer warranty to rectify the situation.

Ok. I will try these and get back to you later today when I can access my PC. Thanks for the quick replies!
