[SOLVED] Graphics card issues

Hi, a friend of mine bought a second hand Nvidia GTX 1070 and it worked fine for the first few months. The thing is that now it randomly crashes while playing games, his screen just freezes and he has to restart it. However, when he tries restarting it takes a while for it to post, doesn't give any image at all but you can hear it booting to Windows. After some restarts he can get it running normally until it says "nvidia display driver stopped working and has recovered" and it crashes again.
Does anyone know how to fix it?

Motherboard: Asus m5a78l-m plus
Cpu: Fx-6300
Gpu: GTX 1070 gaming x
Ram: 12GB (Kingston 1866mhz)
Psu: EVGA 600w 80+ bronze

First make sure the video card is seated properly. Also check that the auxiliary video card power connector is connected properly. It might be best to remove the video card and then re-insert the card to ensure proper seating in its slot.

Uninstall video drivers and use Display Driver Uninstaller (from here)to ensure all video files are removed from the computer. Then (re)install latest compatible video card drivers and reboot computer.
