I honestly have no idea when it comes to computers: I bought my current setup for £700 as a ready made off amazon in 2013. So please dumb any help down as much as possible!
Recently my graphics card keeps crashing (I think it's my graphics card: my screen goes block colours, striped, or I get that digital snow effect, and then when the system reboots these effects continue throughout windows launching). This seems to happen randomly: I can be idle on the desktop right after launch and it will happen, or I can play hours of a high intensity game before it happens, although it does seem to happen more when I'm playing something intensive. I've tried updating and resetting my drivers, but nothing seems to be helping. Maybe my graphics card is just old and worn out, or gets too hot with newer games (although it crashes on older, less intensive games too) or maybe it's something else. I'd appreciate any help, including advice as to whether I should try to upgrade my current system or just buy a whole new computer to keep up with modern games. Here are my specs (at least as much as I could find) but let me know if you need anything else!
Processor: AMD FX(tm)-8350 Eight-Core Processor, 4000 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
Motherboard: Msi 760GMA-P34 (FX) series - MS-7641 (v5.1)
RAM: 16.0 GB
PCU: 700W Aerocool Integrator (as far as I can tell)
GPU: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series (I looked up my card using GPU-Z and it says Club 3D R9 280 royalKing OR VTX3D R9 280 X-Edition: From what I can see through my case it looks more like the royalKing)
Chip type: AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x679A)
Installed Drivers: (there seem to be a lot of these? Idk) aticfx64.dll,aticfx64.dll,aticfx64.dll,amdxc64.dll,aticfx32,aticfx32,aticfx32,amdxc32,atiumd64.dll,atidxx64.dll,atidxx64.dll,atiumdag,atidxx32,atidxx32,atiumdva,atiumd6a.cap,atitmm64.dll
