Question Graphics Card Noise

When someone says that a graphics card is "Loud" does that only refer to during gaming any during heavy usage such as rendering, or does it also apply ton when the card is idle? Just wondering. Thanks.

Most cards today have fan profiles so only loud when fan is picking up speed under load as temp increases.

Any card should be pretty quiet at idle, unless it's damaged. If someone describes a card as being loud it's safe to assume they're talking about when it's under load.

I am just asking because I was thinking about returning my Zotac RTX 2080 AMP which does not turn the fans off at idle for an EVGA RTX 2080ti Black Edition which supposedly has fan stop until 55 degrees, but I heard that the card was loud. I have a recording studio in my house. I could care less if it is loud during gaming. I just care that it is at least quiet during non-gaming tasks. Thanks.

Regardless of whether the fans turn off completely, it should still be pretty quiet at idle. There could very well be other things in your PC (e.g. case/CPU fans, hard drives, etc.) that will be just as loud or louder than the graphics card fans at idle.

Would it be safe to say that the EVGA 2080ti Black Edition GPU be would not be equally quiet during non-gaming tasks compared to the Zotac RTX 2080 Amp? Thanks.

If, as you say, the EVGA has fan stop and the Zotac does not then the EVGA would be quieter during non GPU-intensive tasks.
