Graphics card not detected

I bought a new graphics card andGeforce GT730 but it wont work on my motherboard intel DP55KG. I have no idea why this is happening, any assistance will be appreciated.

This might sound stupid, but did you plug the monitor into the GPU and not the motherboard?
