Graphics card not preforming at its peek on simple games

Hey i have a gigabyte r9 270 X 8gb of hyper x beast ram and a amd fx 6300 6 core black edition and ive had them for a few months now and in every game including bf4 i get extremely good frames on the maxed setting (Ultra) but on Minecraft i seem to get only about 90 fps (same results when v sync is on and of) and it also sometimes struggles to load chunks quickly which is strange as my old graphics card and pc were terrible and they would get about 160 fps please help also my current pc is always around 25.c while gaming so that should be a problem and my cpu is always quite cold aswell
