Graphics card oc itself when i have my 144hz monitor and a 60hz monitor rigged up as a dual monitor setup

Im not sure why its doing this i either have to only use my new monitor or put my new monitor to a lower refresh rate like 120hz as it does not oc itself when i do this i have a msi gtx 970 anyone got any ways around this im not sure what to do why does it oc itself when using 144hz with another monitor has anyone else experianced this i dont want my graphics card running hot all the time what do i do?

This is called GPU boost which basically overclocks your card for you as you're using it. You can turn this off from the Nvidia control panel but I wouldn't do this unless your card is exceeding 80C or running too loud.

Dual monitor setup will push your GPU harder, coz it renders two desktop at the same time.

It's normal, nothing to worry about.

If you want to underclock your GPU for sake of safety, use MSI Afterburner. Which i did on my old MSI N9600gt to save power and make it cooler
