what would you suggest to choose, from the two ?

Power Color ATI RADEON 9600 PRO 128MB DDR (128bit) 400/600MHz
2 x DDRAM 512MB DIMM 400 PC3200 CL3 DDR Apacer

or

Club 3D ATI RADEON 9800PRO 128MB DDR (256bit) 380/680MHz
DDRAM 512MB DIMM 400 PC3200 CL3 DDR Apacer

is it smarter to choose more ram or a better graphics card ?

I think that Intel P4s perform best with dual channel when the chipset allows, which yours does.

512mb/ram would be ok for now. so, if you need another stick of 512 in 6 months, that would be very easy to upgrade. 100 bux

a video card on the other hand, is definately NOT so easy to upgrade. a 9600pro is getting to be.. well lets just say that if you get a 9600pro youll feel the pain much worse than if you lack a little bit of ram

in other words , i say to get the 9800pro/512 hands down

It's always easier to upgrade RAM down the road, but not so easy and is more expensive to replace a video card. That's why I recommend the 9800.

go with the 9800 card and if you don't plan on upping the ram, get two sticks of 256. its importand you use the dual channel.

actually its not really. i went for 768m/ram over 512 in dual channel. in 3dmark i lose a few points in the cpu test, but its like 20 points of something which is nothing

That's because you're on an Athlon, which doesn't need the extra bandwidth. The P4, which is what this guy has, will use the extra memory bandwidth from dual channel.
