Graphics card or Processor improvement?

Hello, my name is Mike, I have a:

Intel Core i5 2500k
GTX 660 SC
8GB GDDR5 RAM.

So I was wondering.. what would you guys recommend me to do, change the graphics card for a better one or the processor? I'm aiming to get more FPS on games, thus I'm a gamer.. whatever you recommend me, please also tell me which item to get.

No point in upgrading your CPU. If you want more performance then the GPU upgrade would be in line. What's your budget? The GTX 970 and 980 are the current top end with the 970 offering crazy price/performance at its tier.

I would hold off on upgrading the cpu. It already does well in games, the graphics card on the other hand can be upgraded for a significant improvement as games continue to look for a beefy graphics card. I would recommend the 970 as it is new, very power efficient, and delivers great performance in modern games.

HOLY COW! I had no idea the 970 was so cheap.. I think I will get that one, seems like a really good card and its really cheap. Thanks a lot Martell1977.

Like Martell asked, what is your budget? I also agree with him. The 970 is looking like the card that will give you the most bang for your buck at this point. It'll also save you electricity costs because of it's efficiency.

I've had ASUS cards in the past and I must say that they are great. The ASUS 970 Strix uses the DirectCU II cooling system that keeps you at a good temp. Additionally, they tend to be very quiet. When I get the money to upgrade, this is the card I will most likely be getting. It will cost a little more than a base card so keep that in mind.
