I plan on buying the Accelero Xtreme IV cooler for my R9 290. Unfortunately, because of my motherboard (Gigabyte 970A - DS3P), I won't be able to fit my GPU with the aftermarket cooler in the top PCIE X16 slot because of the motherboard's heatsink in the middle. This cooler has big backplate and that's the issue, so I may order the Xtreme III version which is without the backplate but since they are the same price I wanted to get the newer one.
So my question is, is my gpu going to work the same on the PCIE X4 slot below? Is there going to be any difference? If so, any solution, or maybe getting the Xtreme III is wiser?
P.S I plan on buying new motherboard like in 2 months when new Ryzen cpus get out so have that in mind too. Let me know! Thank you.
