Graphics card problem?

I jsut brought a
Athlon 1 gig
geforce 2 mx (32mb)
128 PC133 ram
IBM 30 gig 7200 rpm ULTRA
Auriga 17 inch mon
k7 gigbyte mb
ATX case

I have a problem, my fps is way, way too low for a system like this. I only get around 50 - 60 fps in Action quake 2 ( mod for quake 2), even a celly 500 with a tnt2 outperforms my system.
I have tried everything! New drivers (Det3), Old drivers (Det 11.01, Geforce 2 7.52), Direct X 8, VIA 4 in 1 drivers (2.9 and 2.9a)
I have tried all these drivers for Win me, and then i upgraded to ( not a clean install) Win 2k and downloaded all the drivers again, and STILL I get 50 - 60 fps
What is wrong with my system? can anyone help me please?

I don't know what could be causing such low performance....

what settings are you running the game at?
And what kind of settings do you have on the MX? You don't have anti-aliasing on do you? If you do have FSAA on that would easily explain the low framerate.
