I am planning on buying AMD Radeon HD 7750 graphics card
My current config is-
processor- intel pentium 4
motherboard- intel D945GCCR
monitor - viewsonic VA703B 17"
450W SMPS
2GB Ram DDR2 800MHz
running windows 7 ultimate

i know my CPU will bottleneck my GPU but iam also planning on buying AMD 3.5 AM3+ FX 6-Core Edition FX-6300 Processor with Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 Motherboard

Or should i go with MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard?

i need a graphics card now... but i can buy the processor about 3 months later only
Am i going in the right direction?

I think you didnt get that so i am gonna say this time in USD

now i have about $200
but 2-3 months later i'll probably have about $350 saved up

what did you list before ? i will take a guess and say india Rs?
what country/website will you be purchasing from

based on 8000rs (again i'm guessing thats what you meant) you could get a hd7770 for just a bit over budget http://www.flipkart.com/sapphire-amd-ati-hd-7770-1-gb-gddr5-graphics-card/p/itmd7th7krc5umdg?pid=GRCD7TGZHNSN39YR&otracker=from-search&srno=t_135&query=graphics+card&ref=838948bc-526d-46db-9461-31bcaed946cd which would probably be worthwhile. if you absolutely cannot exceed that budget then you are pretty much stuck with a gtx650 or hd7750.

dont forget that you will need to upgrade your ram as well when you upgrade the cpu (cpu+mb+ram)

AMD 3.5 AM3+ FX 6-Core Edition FX-6300 (FD6300WMHKBOX) Processor - Rs. 7699

ASUS M5A97 LE Motherboard - Rs. 6499

G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) PC RAM (F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL) - Rs. 6450

Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card - Rs. 15400
http://www.flipkart.com/sapphire-radeon-hd-7850-2gb-gddr5-graphics-card/p/itmdh75uazzzgsdd?pid=GRCDH72GTJTFQQZ5

Estimated Total: Rs. 36048

------------------

i know i exceeded your budget by rs1048 (about $17 usd) however i felt that it was worthwhile

the fx-6300 isnt a bad cpu to go with your a rs35000 ($565usd) budget.

i went with a amd970 chipset motherboard which gives you a little more options compared to the one you mentioned in your first post. it is overclockable however the 990fx chipset is better for overclocks. that however is a rs3500 ($56usd) upgrade.

you should have 2x4gb of 1600mhz ram for good performance. you could likely get away with 2x2 (and save cash) however you might run into some issues with some newer games or programs (since the os can use 2 easily... leaving only 2 free) so i would suggest staying with 2x4.

i added a hd7850 since it was the best performing card for the remaining balance. the 7850 1gb fits within budget however 1gb is not much vram and you would be better off with 2. this is why you are over budget by a bit. (i added the 2gb card instead of the 1gb then gave you slightly cheaper ram to offset)

Thanx a lot i can easily manage an extra 1000
but the SAPPHIRE RADEON HD 7850 requires an 500 W SMPS , the one i have right now is 450 W, so would i have to buy another one?
That will be a problem for me :(
could you please look again?

using the parts picked out you're looking at 366-386w (depending on if you consider the mobo high end or normal... my vote would be normal) for a 100% system load (which wont happen outside of stress testing your pc). i had to guess on your other components so i just added a dvd drive, 1 hard drive and 3 120mm fans.

since you dont even break 400w (let alone 450) for even a 100% load you might be able to get away as is with your current psu. as you said though a 500w gives you a bit more headroom and isnt a bad upgrade if you wanted to do some overclocking and the like (since amd chips are power hogs when it comes to oc.

Thanx a ton man!!
another thing i wanna ask is, if i go for Corsair Vengeance DDR3 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) instead of G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) will it make any difference?
and my monitor is viewsonic VA703b 17" will it create any problems with the new config?

if you go with 1 stick of ram you will only be in single channel. i'd go in 2 (there is a decent performance difference between single and dual channel!)

the monitor doesnt really make much of a difference. the resolution affects performance of games but you have the best upgrades your budget offers.
