HI, i'm going to get a better graphics card than i already have, i know that the system allocates system ram for hardware and 512mb for each pci-e. I have 4gb of ram installed with 2.99gb usable, i currently have a EVGA Geforce 210 1gb and plan on getting a Asus GT 630 2gb GDDR3 because it low profile. I want to know if my available will go now if i install the card i'm going to get.
My specs if you want to know are as follows:
Windows XP SP3 Home 32-bit
320GB HDD
4GB of Ram
Intel DG41TY Motherboard
EVGA Geforce 210 1GB Graphics Card.

And before anyone says something about 32-bit systems can only have 4GB ram max, i already know. And don't say get a new computer.

allocates what?
unless i missed something, i would have to say no. no 512mb is being allocated for each pci-e.

i am assuming you dont play games (or graphics intensive games), since you are using a low end card, and will be replacing it with another not-so-good gpu.

but for your question, yes you should have no issues if you plan to buy a 630. by the way, that 2gb is not necessary for a 630. unless you have a special need for a 2gb. 630 is just too slow

Computer systems allocate System RAM I.E. the computer ram for hardware with 512mb. It is more obvious in 32-bit operating systems when the max ram is 4gb and i'm getting a asus geforce gt630 for a few reasons, 1. It's in my price range, 2. It's low profile and 3. It's better than what i currently have, i don't want to play the most recent games, in fact the most recent games i want to play on it are elder scrolls 5 and deus ex human revolution.

I can understand you. you are tight on budget. But try to think for future. Instead of upgrading 4\5000 per 1\2 year it would be batter you completely upgrade once for 4\5year. Also what would you do after you finish playing with that mantioned game(it'll need few days to complet skyrim). And also with gt 630 you have to play skyrim in low-medium settings which you still can play with your gf 210.(I also played skyrim with gf 210. After that I upgrade the whole system).

what is your processor buddy?
