i intend to buy 2x MSI R7 240 4GD3 LP for the pc im building my gf. the chassis i have chosen is a zalman z11+ as it was cheap. i know this card is a low profile card but what i want to know is does it come with an extra non lp plate to change on the back of the card or not? and if yay or nay then would i still be able to fit it in the chassis i mentioned??

Solution

I guess, I don't understand your question well. What are you referring as "non lp plate"? Usually your CPU Cabinet will have multiple number of removable plates for Graphics cards and other similar PCI interface devices. If you want to insert a new device you have to remove the plate from the chassis and install your device. In your case , you will be using 2 modules of R9 240 4GB DDR3 GPU so you have to remove two plates from your chassis to accommodate your 2 Grahics card.

what i mean is. the plate on the cards that slots into place in the slots in rear of chassis. some lp cards come with a standard plate so that they can be mounted into mid atx chassis and atx chassis etc. as they are meant for micro atx. i just want to know do these specific cards come with the changeable plate on the graphics card so that they sill fit my chassis as if i try fit them standard as they are they will not mount properly.

The mounting plate size is a standardized one. Be it ATX/mATX all the cabinets will have the same size of slot. So no need to get any extra changable plate.

Solution

oh ok lol last lp card i bought came with an extra plate for just that reason lol but if you say its standardised then ok. i am assuming that replacement plates can be bought? (just incase i do indeed need one and it isnt supplied)

As far as I know, the plate is of standardised size so don't worry 😉

cheers. think my mrs will be pleased with 2 of these in crossfire :) any idea of what cpu will be good. got a budget of around 80 quid for cpu so will an a10 be good enough or possible any quad cores that wont bottleneck those two cards?

Cheers bro. Create a separate thread for this question. We will discuss it there.
