I have an EVGA 2GB DDR3 GForce GT 710 Graphics card with support for PCI-E 2.0 X16. My main board has a PCI-E 2.0 X 16 slot, but the slot ia a bit more than 2 times as wide as the pin bar on the Graphics card. Is it safe to try to install this card?

Any help is greatly appreciated,

Ernie

Solution
yes. the cards cannot use the extra bandwidth the rest of the slot provides. those gold contacts are, well gold and if not used they are not there. the shorter card interface is more than enough bandwidth for the gt 710, a larger slot would not make the GPU itself any faster

note the unused area of the slot, perfectly normal

you can connect any size PCIe card into a full sized slot. (excluding the micros)
