graphics card questions

Hey guys,

I recently got a LG ultrawide monitor and my r9 290 doesn't seem to quite cut it any more due to higher resolution when it comes to far cry 4 and other heavy games so i was thinking of upgrading to the new 8gb 290x

But then i realised that it would be cheaper for me to put another 290 in my system .

Witch setup would be better?

No i dont i have a cx 600 so id have to change it .
i have a power meter on my pc and full load never goes above 450-480 watts so il probably get a cs850 and i think that would power the 2 cards.

Money is a factor here as my job pays minimum wage so mid range corsair psu will have to do

As for the card is a crossfire 290 setup better than the 8gb 290x then?

The crossfire 290s would be faster.

the only problem now is that my free pci slot next to my card is a x16 (x4 mode lane ) .. will this effect the crossfire ?

At a minimum, you want x8/x8 PCI-E 2.0. Personally, I haven't seen it but ideally, PCI-E 3.0 x16/x16.

You will have a huge FPS loss, with 8x and 4x
Perhaps sell your r290 and get gtx 980?
