I'm upgrading to a new GPU soon and decided on the nVidea GTX 960.

Only now I've noticed a 2GB and 4GB option. Which should I get?

I already have 8GB of RAM in my system, will I need the extra 2GB. GTA V is the latest game I'm playing and only at 1080p.

Any feedback would be appreciated!

Thanks

Vram (GPU) and ram (system) are two seperate things and are unrelated in this instance. Once won't repalce the other, they wont stack etc.

If you really have the "option" of 2 or 4, pick 4 for sure! In many games, even at 1080p your system will run out of buffer with only 2GB. I would say that for high settings on 1080p 3GB is now the standard with a little headroom.

In this case if the price difference is not massive, I strongly recommend you get 4GB, if not just to furutreproof against upcoming releases which are texture heavy (like witcher 3 etc).

Compare what the 960 4GB costs versus a r9 280x 3GB. Opt for the radeon if comparable

For the same price you can get a card that can actually use all that Vram. Custom 290's 4GB are around the same price as 960 4GB while being quite faster.

960 is not capable using that much Vram, 128bit card will choke as soon you put any AA on it. Thats not futureproofing...why did you decide to go with 960 anyway?
