Hi first post here :D , i want to purchase the U2410 dell monitor. I want to use it as an external to my laptop. The graphics card is a ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650. I'm going to connect them through an HDMI cable and my concern is that the HDMI output supports resolution only up to 1920x1080 however the maximum resolution of U2410 is 1920x1200. So i guess there is no way i could get a higher resolution from my laptop. Should i look for a lower resolution monitor?? perhaps u2311h? What is your opinion?? Can the u2410 work in a lower resolution?? :hello:

Well you could check the link i gave above. This is the laptop i own. I checked the specs and it says "DisplayPort™ output support" but i dont have a display port. :pfff:

quick answer:

you can not run a 1920x1200 native monitor on a 1920x1080 signal without expecting either distortion or black bars.

check your manual for the official specs. if 1920x1080 max is stated there you might be better off getting a 1920x1080 monitor to save you any headaches. 120 pixels less in height shouldn't be a problem.
